ITINERARY

Day 1 – Marrakech – Ourika Valley
An enchanting palm oasis set against the rise of the snowy High Atlas Mountains, Marrakech is Morocco’s second oldest majestic imperial city and retains the splendor of its ancient past. Buildings are blushed in hues of rosy earth, and horse-drawn carriages clip along broad avenues lined with palms and tropical fruit trees. Donkeys carrying carts trawl past fragrant rose and jasmine gardens.
Your certified guide will reveal the secrets of the ancient Bahia Palace from the days of the harem, now populated by a sentry of nesting storks. Step into the ancient royal Saadian Tombs, explore the vibrant and historic Jewish mellah, where some of the finest jewelry is found in Morocco, and view the majestic Koutoubia Mosque before entry into the ancient Market to explore and to have a cup of tea with one of the local artisans to be as close to the culture as possible.

Early evening short drive to your charming Kasbah at the Berber village of Anrar at the High Atlas Mountains for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: A day trekking to explore the hidden Berber Villages
Trip to the High Atlas45 min drive to your charming Kasbah in the Ourika Valley to drop off your luggage before your hike.

A short drive from our Berber village Anrar at Douar Tafza until we reach the Berber hamlet of Oualmes (1150m) to start our 5-hour hike across the river and up along a narrow winding hillside path surrounded by fields of corn towards Anins and the through the col (1670m) where you have lunch with a Berber family at the Berber village of Tizin-Oucheg. From here You’ll continue your Berber adventure to explore the hidden village of Agard then to Anamer village followed by a short trek that would bring you back to Tazintoute village at 1148m) where you shall cross the Assif Ourika to get to your vehicle for your return to your Anrar village around 6.00 pm in the evening for dinner and overnight at the luxury Berber Kasbah Omar at Anrar village in Ourika.

Day 3: A day trekking to visit some of the hidden waterfalls of the valley
The Ourika Valley & Aghbalou Cascades (5 hours hike)

A short drive from our Berber village Anrar at Douar Tafza until we reach the Berber hamlet of Tamzenddirt (1150m) to start our 5hour hike across the river and up along a narrow winding hillside path surrounded by fields of corn towards Anins and the through the col (1670m). From here we amble down to the Aghbalou Cascade (1148m) where we shall stop for our picnic by the waterfall; an opportunity, perhaps, to get refreshingly wet? Our gentle hike this afternoon is made by setting out for the Berber village of Aghbalou, where we shall cross the Assif Ourika to get to our vehicle which takes us through this beautiful valley onto the riverside hamlet of Setti Fadma with its groves of ancient walnut trees, where we can take a 45-minute walk around the handicraft shops set amidst apple orchards, and then return to our Anrar village around 6.00 pm in the evening for dinner and overnight at the luxury Berber Kasbah Omar at Anrar village in Ourika.

Day 4: Imlil – High Atlas Mountains – Toubkal Refuge

7:00 One hour ride to Imlil
8:30 we will start our trek from Imlil (elevation 1740 meters). Imlil is the trekking headquarters for the high Atlas Beside Ourika and is a great place to buy any last-minute supplies. After we meet our mules and start our 10km (5 to 7-hour walk) uphill to our Toubkal refuge (elevation 3207 meters), stopping on route for lunch and to enjoy the spectacular views.

Day 5: Toubkal Peak – Refuge – Imlil – Anrar Village
We set off as early as possible to avoid the sun and start to climb Toubkal. We will set a very slow and steady pace upwards (for anyone who experiences any headaches, stomach problems, or vomiting, he or she may have altitude sickness and must descend immediately).
We will follow the path to Tizi n’Toubkal (elevation 3940 meters) before we continue for the final push to the summit (elevation 4167 meters). Once we arrive at the top, we will take as much break as needed with some snacks and enjoy the views, before the descent back to Toubkal Refuge where we will find a nice warm meal waiting for us.

(5 to 6 hours depends on the weather and the person / 960-meter ascent & descent).

When everyone is ready, we will take 4 hours’ descent back to the village of Imlil to pick up our vehicle for a quick ride to our charming Kasbah to enjoy a nice traditional Moroccan Couscous for dinner and overnight stay.

(3 – 4 hours / 1467 meter descent)

Day 6: Marrakech
Morning 45 drive
to Marrakech airport or Marrakech City center to continue with your Morocco Tour on your own, or to return home with plenty of tales of Arabian nights and days.
